I love the idea of demoing projects we are working on. I have a couple sites, and probably more by February, that I would love to show local techies. Getting live feedback would be awesome and a great way to help evolve these projects.
BarCamp events are a great place to demo what you work on. And I encourage anyone doing really interesting and unique things online to do a presentation based on it.
I think it would be nice if people demo something from a for-profit company; that the company would sponser a part of the barcamp. May dontate food, drinks, supplies or something like that?
A sponsor would be nice. Maybe rather than looking for one big sponsor, offer a couple different packages starting at say $100 for bronze, $500 for silver, and $1000 for gold. Each level would get more exposure and possibly even marketing material to print/hand out. I know startupweekend.com offers this type of sponsorship for their weekends.
I wouldn't be able to touch the gold sponsorship, but I would probably purchase a bronze to promote one of my sites. Others in the area might do the same and before you know it you'll have 10 bronze, 3 or 4 silvers, and maybe a gold or two to help with expenses.
I was thinking even smaller. Like just having a list of needs (ID badges, pens, pencils, gift bags, beverages, lunch, etc) and let each sponser pick what they would be willing to spring for.
Scott, any new developments on sponsor packages or needs? I'd be interested in sponsoring something with my site SnapFoo.com. Just let me know what's available, thanks!
I'm really enjoying snapfoo! It's web 2.0 goodness. Purposeful and intuitive.
From my perspective. The big blip on the radar is the registration table. I would like to take everyone's photo on the way in; print a badge on the spot and then put it in a clear badge pouch with a lanyard.
Alex has already committed to taking the pics with his brand spanking new Nikon D40.
Would you be willing purchase the lanyards, clear "pouches" or paper (I'm not sure if there's "badge paper" or anything like that)?
