BarCamp Indianapolis

Next Event: February 9th, 2008

Just a quick reminder that there is a wiki at http://barcamp.org/barcampindy

Brad posed the question if it would be goodness to get a presentation schedule going there. Perhaps seeing what the day held would inspire some people sitting on the fence about coming to commit.

It's a wiki, so feel free to head over and add your 2 cents.

Scott

We're in an information forest. An exploding forest, at that. Email. Blogs. Podcasts. Tagging. Facebook. Twitter. RSS. Wikis. YouTube. And (yech) Client Software. So how's a guy to 'Pay Attention' , much less be productive? What are the optimal components of a personal/team information strategy?

My 'presentation' won't so much be a presentation as it will be a roll-up time at the end of the day. Are we better prepared as knowledge-workers after experiencing BarCamp?

I'm looking forward to greater minds than mine being on-hand to roll some conclusions into a nice neat little ball. *smile*

Done! Thanks for the feedback, Scott.

Stephen - I love both topics. Do the one that you're the most passionate about!

Pascal - Love the linux angle!

I'm trying not to "manage" topics. I would like for the day to be whatever people make it. if there's a little overlap in topics I'm totally cool with that.

People are starting to post their topics at http://barcamp.org/barcampindy

Items I could talk about that are general enough to be of wide(r) interest:
1) Desktop linux: making the switch, what's involved & lessons learned
2) Project management lite: balancing flexibility and planning processes

Scott, I didn't get a reply to your message--I sent via ning. Do I need to send email instead?

I'm considering talking about Intro to Web graphics for geeks, but if that's not broad enough. I could discuss Getting things done (GTD) / organizing--if more people were interested in that.

Just added my presentation on the list. Be nice to see what others are planning on discussing! ;)

With the BarCamp format, we decide on topics early on in the meeting, right? So should we have a section on the wiki to add *potential* topics and speakers? Note: editing the wiki page was throwing 500 internal server errors, though it seems like the edits took.
