Facebook is wayyy cleaner. Only the profiles with 1000 apps on them are fugly :) (IMO) But Facebook groups aren't as extensible as this (e.g. podcast widgets)

I think Facebook has a slightly cleaner interface. But only slightly.

There's a Ning competitor called me.com. I tried it out. Sucked.

Looks a bit clunky, but it could work. The ads can't go away, I understand, but depending how much it lets you customize we might be able to prettify it a bit. I'll take a look into that.

Yeah, I going to bring the machine in my basement. Did you want to be first to try it?

I think we're going to shoot for a Saturday event. February 9th.

As far as doing these kind of events during the week. I would pitch it to my job like this: "Boss, there's an technology training / community building event in Indianapolis that I would like to take part in. In return for your 'sponsorship'; I'll be able to give a presentation and make sure that our company is promoted heavily"

So what would be a possible justification for taking off from work? Or are all participants going to be those with flexible schedules?
